Military Rings – Customized with Name, Unit & Dates

The 100th air refueling wing – A critical air refueling bridge

The 100th Air Refueling Wing is part of the United States Air Force and stationed at RAF Mildenahll, England. It is the only U.S. air refueling wing that is permanent in Europe. It provides the critical air refueling “bridge” that allows the US Air Force to Deploy anywhere in the world on a moment’s notice.

The 100th ARW was originally called the 100th Bombardment Group. It originally was a B-17 Flying Fortress unit that was stationed at RAF Thorpe Abbotts in England. There were two Disguised Unit Citations given to this unit during and after World War II. This unit flew over 300 missions and suffered great losses during combat. Over 170 aircraft would be missing in action. On April 20, 1945, the unit flew its last mission.

The 100th ARW is comprised of 15 KC-135 aircraft. The unit has over 16,000 personnel, which are assigned to four bases. The 100th ARW was first stationed at Beale, AFB, California. There were no personnel or equipment when this unit first started. Eventually, the 17th Bombardment Wing’s KC-135 Stratotankers were absorbed by the 100th ARW. It assumed the responsibility for worldwide air refueling support from September 1976 until March 1983. It was then taken over by the 9th Strategic Reconnaissance Wing.

For the next seven years, the unit would remain inactive. In July 1990, the 100th ARW was reactivated, but with a new name – the 100th Air Division. Its new home would be Whiteman AFB, Missouri. It would only be a year, however, before the unit would be deactivated again. Finally, in 1992, the 100th ARW was reactivated in RAF Mildenhall. This is the long refueling wing for the Air Force in Europe.

The premier aircraft, the KC-135 Stratotanker is quite a unique aircraft. It was the Air Force’s first jet powered refueling tanker. It has been used extensively since the Vietnam War and it tremendously extends the range and endurance of almost all of the U.S. Military’s bombers and tactical fighters. It has been in service with the Air Force for over fifty years, making it only one of six aircraft to carry that distinction. Despite the increasing costs associated with maintenance, studies have shown that many of these aircraft can be safely flown until 2040. The KC-46 is the expected replacement.

The KC-135 has a multi-point refueling system, allowing it to refuel many different kinds of US aircraft, but also most of the NATO tactical jet aircraft, as well. It can also refuel two aircraft at the same time. It can hold up to 31,275 gallons of fuel and requires a crew of three. However, there is also room for up to 37 passengers.

If you or a loved one is part of the 100th ARW, then you might consider an Air Force ring. There are beautiful insignias and emblems for the 100th ARW available that you can have engraved on the sides. The inside of the band can also be personalized with an engraving. These Air Force rings are a terrific way to show your support for these men and women of the 100 AWR and they make a fantastic gift idea.

The Marine Corp Band – “The President’s Own”

For over 200 years, the United States Marine Band has been part of the happenings that have shaped the country. In 1798, Congress established the Marine Band and it’s the oldest continuously active musical organization in the country. Their mission is very unique – to provide music for the President of the United States. As the Marine Band moves into its third century, the tradition of excellence continues. Earning the title of “The President’s Own” from Thomas Jefferson, it’s the only musical organization that is charged with performing for the President. This is the music of America and this band performs in the White House, for the public, and on national tours.

The original Marine Band had 32 drummers and fifers. These men were deployed on ships or sent to Marine posts, but some were to remain in Philadelphia to provide music for government leaders. The first concert occurred in 1800 in Washington DC, near the spot where the Lincoln Memorial would eventually stand. In 1801, the Band performed at the White House for President John Adams on New Year’s Day. A few months later, the Marine Band performed for President Jefferson’s inauguration and for every subsequent inauguration afterwards.

The first time the Marine Band played “Hail to the Chief” was in 1829 to honor President Andrew Jackson. These musicians performed when the first cornerstone was laid for the Washington Monument in 1848. In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln gave his now famous Gettysburg Address, followed by a performance by the Band.

In 1880, John Philip Sousa would become the 17th Leader of the Marine Band at the age of 25. For the next 12 years, the Marine Band would premier many of this composer’s most famous marches, as well as the first phonograph recordings. In 1886, the Marine Band led President Cleveland to New York Harbor for the unveiling of the Statue of Liberty.

In 1922, the Marine Band would be heard for the first time on radio and it would continue to be highlighted on a weekly program for the next 24 years. In 1943, Winston Churchill and President Franklin Roosevelt would enjoy a special wartime concert at the White House. The two leaders sang the “Battle Hymn of the Republic” the Band played at the conclusion of the concert, even though it was pouring down rain.In 1963, the Marine Band led the funeral procession of President Kennedy, at the request of his wife.

In 1973, the first female member of the Marine Band was enlisted. The first overseas concert was done in the Netherlands in 1985. Just a couple of years later, the band would perform in five different cities in the former Soviet Union. This is the only military band to tour in the USSR before it was transformed into independent states.

Members of the Marine Band must audition. The selection process, as well as the audition, is exceptionally difficult and only the best of the best will be offered a spot with this prestigious organization. One of the best ways to recognize this honor is with one of the many styles of Marine Corps Band rings. Elegantly designed and very personalized, Marine Band rings are sure to be an item of pride to the Band members. You can easily order these United States Marine Band rings online and present it to your friend or loved one who will where it with honor and pride.

Marine Scout/Snipers: One Shot, One Kill

The Marine Scout Sniper is not a primary MOS. It signifies that one has successfully completed the Scout Sniper School. In most cases, the main MOS is in reconnaissance or infantry. The main goal is to keep the enemy from freely moving from place to place. They are tasked with killing key personnel in the enemy’s forces. However, that is not all that these Marines do.

Scout Snipers are also tasked with providing surveillance and reconnaissance. This unit is considered to be the most elite forces in the United States military. They complete their training at Scout Sniper training centers. These schools teach the graduates marksmanship skills for long range fire from hidden positions to support various combat missions. The motto for this unit is “One shot, one kill.”

Most of the other military branches separate those who specialize in reconnaissance operations from those who are trained as snipers. In the Army, an “Infantry Scout” performs surveillance and reconnaissance operations. However, the Marines are the only branch to combine both sniper and scout training into one MOS.

The Scout Sniper Basic Course is certainly most difficult training in the Marine Corps. Most classes lose about 60% of the students, although it can go much higher. The schools are located a Camp Pendleton, Camp Lejeune, Quantico, and Hawaii. There are many basic requirements in place that must be met, including requirements for vision, physical fitness, marksmanship, and overall mental health. The physical requirements alone are often enough to get many booted from the course.

The school includes extensive physical fitness training, marksmanship, field crafts, reconnaissance, surveillance, and other important training. Most of the Marines that are cut from the program find that it happens during the “Stalking” portion of the course. This part of the training requires hours of patience and dedication. It can take a lifetime to master. It involves moving towards an observation post without being detected.

The first Scout Sniper platoons appeared during World War II. Highly effective at reconnaissance, these units were often given support by light tanks. The first group was trained in Australia, but that training was also supplement by Great Britain, as well. Because the Sniper Scouts had such success in World War II, the Marines immediately began to develop a specialized training program of their own.

In Vietnam, Marine Sniper Scouts were vital to the success of the United States military. Besides utilizing the snipers skills, the surveillance and reconnaissance led to numerous successful artillery attacks. The Sniper Scouts were credited with capturing and eliminating many of the enemy forces that traditional military forces couldn’t get close enough to.

Those that have successfully completed the Marine Scout Sniper training are considered to be the most elite of this military branch. A great way to recognize their service and sacrifice is with a Marine Scout Sniper ring. Your loved is sure to wear a Marine Scout Sniper ring with a great deal of pride. You can order these and other military rings online.

Warrant Officer

The Army Field Officer or Headquarters Clerk, as well as the Pay Clerk, both preceded the Army Warrant Officer. The grade and rank of Warrant Officer was introduced to the Army in 1918. The Act that established this rank also established the Army Mine Planter Service, which was part of the Costal Artillery Corps. The Warrant Officers were to serve as masters, mates, and engineers on of the vessels. Initially, there were three pay grades authorized. The Warrant Officer rank and grade was given to Field Clerks and Pay Clerks so they would be full members of the military.

In 1941, the Army decided to redefine the position of the Warrant Officer. There were two grades created, a junior grade and a Chief grade. By 1942, Warrant Officers were in forty different occupational areas. The grade of Flight Officer was created to the Army Air Force in 1942, as well.

Most of the first flight officers that graduated from the many Army Air Force flight training programs were commissioned as Second Lieutenants, but the remainder were given an appointment as a Flight Officer. Once the Warrant Officers had some flying time under their belts, many were commissioned as lieutenants.

By November of 1942, the Warrant Officer rank order was finally determined as being above an enlisted grade, but lower than all commissioned officers. In 1949, grades of W-3 and W-4 were added. The pay grade of W-5 wasn’t added until 1991.

Today, the Army Warrant Officer fills a number of different roles – a combat leader, a technical expert, an advisor, and a trainer. One of the reasons why Warrant Officers are so valuable and effective in the Army is because they can fulfill these different roles. Over 45 occupational specialties have Warrant Officers and they serve from the section level to the upper echelons of the Army. Many command vessels and aircraft. Others are in charge of smaller units and specialized teams. In a change from traditional titles, Army Warrant Officers are addressed as Mister or the female equivalent.

There are now two basic types of Warrant Officers in the Army – aviators and technicians. In order to qualify as an applicant for technicians, the soldier must have a rank of E-5 or Sergeant. The aviators must meet high standards for aptitude and medical requirements. Unlike most of the other aviation programs in the Armed Forces, the Army Warrant Officer aviation program does not require a college degree, but it is recommended.

There are Warrant Officers in other branches of the United States Military. While this designation is not as common as it once was, there is no doubt that these military members fulfill a very specific, technical role in the Armed Forces. For those that accept this appointment, there is a great deal of pride and honor that comes with this special rank. One of the best ways to recognize their service and dedication is with one of the many styles of Warrant Officer rings. The unique design and beautiful craftsmanship are the perfect visual reminder of this special area of the United States Military.

Military Police: A Long and Proud History

Police Heroes

The Military Police have a long and honored history in the United States Armed Forces. Often called MPs in the Air Force and Army and Shore Patrol in the Navy, these men and women enforce the laws and regulations regarding military order and discipline.
Since the Continental Army created a military police unit in 1778, there have always been personnel assigned to help carry out military police functions as needed. These functions include capturing or deterring deserters, custody and transport of prisoners, and investigating other criminal activities, just to name a few. From 1783 to 1861, the United States Army didn’t have a specialized unit for these activities, but instead, simply assigned personnel as needed and rotated them through the ranks.
During the Civil War, the incredible numbers of soldiers on both sides were often unruly, both in the field and in civilian areas. A system of Provost Marshals was created by both the Union and the Confederate Armies to deal with the need for police forces. The Union Army established a permanent police force whose main duties were to prevent riots, looting, desertion, and violence against civilians. Towards the end of the War, the Provost Marshal Department was established. This new military department was given the task of controlling the local governments in the Southern states.

Military Police Corps – Personalize This Ring With Your Name, Dates Etc
By World War 1, the Military Police Corps was temporarily created. The soldiers that were assigned wore the “MP” armbands that so many associate with this area of the military. Their primary duties included guarding prisoners, rounding up deserters and draft dodgers, as well as overseeing the prisoner of war camps found in the United States. During World War II, the Military Police Corp became a permanent unit in the United States Army. Over 210,000 personnel, both of enlisted and officer ranks, served as Military Police. For every major conflict from that time forward, including Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan, Military Police have held an important role in all branches of the Armed Forces and have been deployed to all areas of conflict.
Today, Military Police enforce military law under the Uniform Code of Military Justice and the Articles of War. The offenses can range from disobedience to mutiny and everything in between. What once was established to enforce discipline among the ranks, now maintains justice in the military.

Military members who are charged with crimes against civilians are tried in civilian courts. However, military members who are charged with crimes against other military members or against the United States government are tried in a military court. Those found guilty and sentenced to incarceration are housed in military or federal prisons.
Military Police have specialized units that perform certain functions, such as investigations, security for dignitaries, and facility security enforcement. All military police now attend specialized training and are considered some of the best trained law enforcement in the country.

The History of the Signal Corps

The Signal Corps owes its origins to Albert James Myer. This Army doctor invented a unique visual communication system, known as the “wigwag” when he was serving in Texas during 1856. This system of flags and torch lights would be put to use during the Civil War when it was used to direct the bombing of Confederate positions at Fort Calhoun. In 1863, Congress finally authorized the Signal Corps as an active unit until the end of the war.

In 1870, the Signal Corps took on another role as a national weather service. By 1880, this weather service would garner international acclaim. The weather service would remain under the command of the Signal Corps until 1891, when the Department of Agriculture took it over. The Signal Corps would still be in charge of military meteorology.

The Spanish-American War of 1898 would see the Signal Corps used much more than it was during the Civil War. However, the Signal Corps did much more than just use flags and torches to convey messages. In addition to those visual signals, they were tasked with supplying telegraph and telephone lines, integrating the use of telephones in combat situations, and used photography for combat purposes. After the war ended, the Signal Corps were responsible for bringing the first wireless telegraph system into the Western Hemisphere.

In 1907, the Chief Signal Officer was put in charge of an Aeronautical Division. The Wright brothers conducted several test flights of the first airplane the Army used and it was built to the specifications lined out by the Signal Corps. In 1918, the Army turned over this Aeronautical Division to the Army Air Service.

By World War 1, the Signal Corps were developing radiotelephones. These were infinitely superior to the radiotelegraphs, the telegraph and telephone were the main means of communications during World War 1. In 1937, the then-director of the Signal Corps patented the first radar used by the Army. Before World War II, there were already two sets of radar units in mass production. By the Vietnam War, the Signal Corps provided radio links that could communicate more than 200 miles apart.

Today, the motto for the Signal Corps remains the same as it was over a hundred years ago: “Watchful for the Country.” New developments in technology and innovation continue every year. The Signal Corps fulfill the need for effective, reliable communication in all areas of the military. They have come a very long way since using flags during the daylight hours and torches at night. The Signal Corps laboratory is one of the most advanced for the development of communications, radar, mapping, and photography technology.

For those that are assigned to the Signal Corps, the assignment comes with pride and honor, as well as responsibility. A fantastic way to recognize this service and dedication is with one of the beautiful Signal Corps rings that are available. A Signal Corps ring will become a treasured heirloom that is sure to be passed on to children and grandchildren.

Special Forces Rings Honor These Exceptional Members of the Military

Depending on who you talk to, there is only one unit that qualifies as the United States Special Forces. This would be the United States Army Green Berets. This highly trained, specialized group of soldiers is called upon when traditional means of military action simply won’t get the job done. The first Green Beret designation occurred in 1953, but it wasn’t fully authorized until President Kennedy acknowledged this “mark of distinction” in 1961.

Since then, the Green Berets have always been considered to be a very elite group of soldiers. They are considered a “cut above” the traditional solder, enduring conditions and scenarios that many others cannot. These are some of the most self-reliant, resilient soldiers that the United States military has and they are held in high regard.

If you or a loved one has had the distinct honor of serving this country as a Green Beret, then it’s time to recognize that service with a Special Forces ring. Of course, there are traditional Army rings available, but when you serve in the Green Berets, a simply Army ring won’t suffice. Special Forces rings are a visual representation of the endless hours of training, incredible fortitude, and unbelievable responsibility that comes with being a Green Beret. This unit requires a great deal from their soldiers, including the highest level of integrity, skills, and sacrifice. This is why a traditional Army ring simply is not enough.

When searching for Special Forces rings, you should take care to find a company that will help you design a ring that truly expresses the core values of this unit. The Special Forces crest is held in very high regard and is often chosen for the top of the ring. This engraved crest can be done in color or simply left in the beautiful tones of the precious metal the ring is made of. The sides of a Special Forces ring often contain a symbol or emblem of a specific military campaign the Green Beret were part of or even an insignia that few would understand.

Special Forces rings can be engraved inside the band with a two to three word phrase, initials, or a date. Not only does this add a personalized element to the ring, but it also makes it easier to identify should the ring become lost or stolen. These rings are treasured and passed onto to children and grandchildren as mementos of their relative’s honor and sacrifice.

Impressive Army Rings for West Point Graduates

The United States Military Academy gave out the first military rings to the graduating class of 1835. The tradition has continued for almost two hundred years. It’s an important part of graduating from a military academy and many have special events, such as dinner and dances to honor the occasion. The Army’s military academy, West Point, is for the best and brightest young men and women in the country. It takes more than just a desire to attend, as you must be selected from thousands of applicants each year. If selected, there are four years ahead of you that are designed to make you into the best Army Officer possible. Not everyone will succeed until graduation, though.

Designing Army Rings

Army rings are a great way to recognize those individuals who complete their time at West Point and are ready to pursue their career in the Army. There are a number of different designs of Army rings, but the most popular is the one that closely resembles a class ring. There is a semi-precious stone on the top of the ring and a symbol, insignia, or emblem adorns each side of the ring. Some love to have the Army crest engraved inside the stone, which adds a beautiful accent. There are hundreds of symbols and emblems to choose from, each with a special meaning.

Other styles include signet rings, which feature the crest on the top instead of a semi-precious stone. There are no emblems on the sides, but this doesn’t detract from the beauty of the ring. There is a formalness and elegance to this style and many people find that this is their favorite design.  There is also a style that combines both designs, with a crest on the top and emblems or insignia on the sides.

Add an Engraving

You can have the inside of the band engraved. You may want to put the wearer’s initials or date of graduation. Perhaps you would like to include a short saying with a lot of meaning. This engraving is a great way to show the recipient that you didn’t just buy any Army ring. You put a great deal of time and energy into creating a piece of military jewelry that is personalized and just to their liking.

Gold or Silver

Most Army rings are gold. This is one of the colors of the Army and it’s what looks best with the Army’s dress uniform. West Point does have a few rules to guide the design of their graduation ring, so you may want to see what those are before you make your purchase. Valedium is a less expensive choice, but it does withstand more abuse than gold or silver. However, valedium is silver toned, so check to make sure it is allowed for a West Point graduation ring.

In Closing

Army rings are a fantastic way to recognize a soldier’s graduation from West Point. There are a lot of years of service and sacrifice ahead and many will make a lifelong career out of the Army. This is a terrific way to show your appreciation for all that they do and will do to serve this country.

Military Rings symbolize honorable service

The first military rings were given to the graduates of the United States Military Academy in 1835. Since that time, this piece of military jewelry has become a tradition, but not only for those that graduate from a military academy. Today, they are used to recognize a military member’s service, but with a personal touch. There are many styles of rings available and the options for customizing the rings make this a fantastic gift idea for a friend or family member.

Styles of Military Rings

Do you remember what your class ring looked like? This is what one of the styles of military rings resembles. It has a semi-precious stone on the top and emblems or insignias on the side. One of the most popular styles available, this ring can highlight a number of different aspects of a military career. The second style is that of a signet ring and it’s elegant and formal. Simple in design, but very beautiful, this ring features a military crest or emblem on the top. The tops are plain, but this only adds to the overall beauty. The final style of ring available today combines the best of the above styles, creating a ring with a crest or emblem on the top and your choice of emblem, symbols, and insignia on the sides. There are hundreds of emblems to choose from, including branch crests, unit insignias, military flags, and even special interests.

Available Material Choices

These rings are available in gold, silver, or valedium. Gold and silver are softer metals than valedium, so if this ring will be worn every day, it’s best to choose the hardest metal. Valedium will last longer, as it resists scratches, scrapes, and overall wear. If the ring will be worn for special occasions, then the gold and silver will not disappoint. Consider the colors of the branch of service the member serves in and which will look best with a dress uniform.

Ordering and Shipping

It’s easy to order military rings online and it’s less expensive than you might think. Military rings are handmade, with excellent craftsmanship, so your ring will take approximately two weeks to complete. The ring can be shipped anywhere in the world, arriving in a beautiful gift box. If your friend or loved one is on a remote deployment, you may want to keep the ring until they return to ensure that the recipient actually receives it.

For those that want to give a gift that is truly unique, military rings will certainly do the trick. Simply place your order online and watch as your friend or loved one’s face lights up when opening this impressive gift.

Navy Rings that speak to every sailor

The United State Navy really became an integral part of the United States military during World War II. Since then, the Navy has been an integral, essential part of virtually every conflict the United States has been a part of. The Navy not only provides security within our seas, but also provides support for members of the other branches around the world. While we can never repay the Navy for its sacrifice and dedication, we certainly can show our gratitude and pride by presenting the Navy member with one of the many styles of Navy rings.

The list of jobs that a Navy member may do is extensive. They may sail on a submarine or one of the Navy “supercarriers,” serve in a logistics unit, or fly one of the Navy aircraft. The strength of character is recognized in a Navy ring and it’s a beautiful way to remember their sacrifice and commitment.

You may want to give one of these beautiful Navy rings that are a testament to their service to the United States in general. For example, one style of ring is a signet ring. It may showcase the Navy crest on the top. Perhaps you want to show their service in a specialized unit, such as the Navy Seals, with a ring that has engravings on the sides or in a stone on the top. The choices are limitless and the final impression is certain to be stunning.

The choice between gold, silver, or valedium can be difficult. Gold and silver will both look fantastic with the Navy dress uniform. However, these softer metals can scratch easily. Valedium is a good choice for those who want to wear their rings daily. It is strong and more resistant to scratches. For those that want a ring to wear every day.
